Judo is a Japanese martial art which focuses on the use of throws, pins, chokes and joint locks. It has a significant sporting element, and is an Olympic event.
Translated from Japanese, Judo means "The gentle way".
Classes are instructed by Donal Tannum 4th dan. Donal is a great coach, and still an active competitor.
Some people take part in judo because they want to compete, others are more interested in self defence.
To complement the self defence aspects of judo, our club also holds jujutsu classes where students learn to defend against strikes and other forms of attack not permitted in competiton
The particular style we study is German Jujutsu and classes are instructed by Lars Manzke 3rd dan.
